Blogging

Well I always thought you had to be from somewhere down the country to be a blogger, but that's no longer the case, you can even live in Dublin and be a blogger these days, 'what's it all about?', you'll have ask another blogger but from what I can gather it's like an online diary or something, like facebook or myspace but without the hassle of having to talk back to people, you can rant about whatever you want, will somebody else end up reading it, yeah they might do, then again they might not...'what's the point?', again, you'll have to ask another blogger, I'm just here to waste time at the end of the day, yes, mine and yours.

NB: A 'blog' is not a 'bleeding dog', they are different things.

iTunes

I started buying music via itunes a few years ago, it's just so handy, the hassle of going into a shop like HMV and having to look for a CD, maybe even having to ask some staff have they got a particular album...'well it's not in stock but we can order it for you if you fill out this form, we should have it in 8 to 10 weeks, blah blah blah....'no I love itunes, it has nearly everything I want, and now that you can rent or buy films on it, well that's just deadly, xtravision will probably never get that fiver I owe them now, I bought 'Annie' the other day for my daughter to watch with the fiver xtravision gave me just to try it out...grand quality, 1.5 gigs, DL complete in about 10 mins, much quicker than going to the video shop....and handier, a lot handier.

Eurovision 2010

So were back in the running for this, for the first time in four years.....I heard we won the semi-finals last night, so if we don't win at the weekend it doesn't matter, cause we've won already, I'll be surprised if we're not last, I heard the Irish song on the way to work, it went in one ear and out the other, I couldn't even hum it, I have a feeling we'll have to go through the qualifiers again next year, but who knows, a load of crazy Europeans might give us 10 points...I must watch it anyway if I'm around, and watch Marty going mad about the way the votes are going if nothing else.

Mountain Biking

Alright then, I still have a guitar, or a few of them, that I never or rarely play, some decks and a load of records I never play either, I needed to find something new to do on a regular basis to keep me sane, but I wanted it to be a healthy one, I'm way too slow and lazy to go running and the Wicklow mountains are on my doorstep so I've taken up mountain biking, it's great fun, it's free once you have a bike, it's safe if you don't crash too much, it's healthy, it's good for you, how long will I last at it, only time will tell, but for the moment it's something I plan to do for a few years at least.

Stagnation

Back to bands, I was still into jungle and DJ'ing and still going nowhere in particular with it, my mate George knew a band that wanted a guitarist so I told him to tell them I'd be well into it, off I went to the 'Chinaman' with my guitar that hadn't been plugged in in a good few years, could I still play, well I hadn't gotten any better from not playing it....The 'Chinaman', what a great pub, the store room was amazing for gigs, it was also our practice room every week for about a year, if they didn't knock the place down we'd probably be still together, well maybe lasted another while...and I'd still be drunk on cheap pints of Furstenburg towards the end of band practice...anyway we split up a year or so later, some x members went on to form a band called 'Coldwar' who are still going today, and going well at that.

DJ Sensi

After the snails slithered off to do their own things, when we stopped even listening to metal I needed to do something with my musical talents...or non-musical talents, I had started listening to rave but only liked the hardcore stuff, jungle was taking off and I guess I got into that from a tape I got off a mate, Moving Shadow, Subbase and the likes, this became my new music for a good few years, started mixing after a while, played on some pirate radio stations and did a few gigs but never really got anywhere with it....it kept me off the streets.

This mix is new enough, ruff enough, heavy enough and noisy enough to listen to, but don't blame me if it gives you a headache.

Septic Snails

Well I play the guitar a bit, or used to, now I just type, one of my first bands that I ever did any gigs or recorded anything with was a band we formed called 'Septic Snails', me and my mate Bren went to see a band from Donegal called 'Tricifix' in Donegal Town back in the early 90's and I remember saying, 'we should make a band Bren', 'what me and you', he said....I said yeah, 'you could sing couldn't ye, I think Hoey has a guitar doesn't he, we'll get him to join too'...bear in mind I was only 17 or so and I'd drank a half bottle of huzzar, I was in bits....anyway, the band was born, we got a mate's brother named Del to play the drums, he was more of a Cure head but he was a good drummer and was happy to help us out with our own stuff and the 'Napalm Death' covers, Timo also sang on the 'Dead Kennedy's' and 'Subhumans' covers we did back then, he also did all our art stuff, it was sort of like a punk band for half the set, a death metal band for the other half, ended up as a mixture of the two without covers, we didn't bother with a bass player for about a year as we figured the guitars were so heavy that nobody would be able to hear a bass anyway....later on we got Dermot to drum, and eventually got a bassist in the form of Mooney, did some more gigs, recorded some more stuff and split up in 1993 or so....it was a good buzz, and sure we had feck all else to do back then.
